Replacing Battery Pack?
  • I just recently got my camera and it already has a message that I need to change the battery pack that came with the camera. I also happen to have a spare and that one works fine but I'm worried that if it's the camera. I don't want the see message with my spare battery. I am also going on a trip Sunday and am not sure if I should get my camera replaced. What should I do?

Contact the shop you bought it or a Canon service center and explain. If they can swap it right away, swap it. If it takes a couple a days/weeks to send the camera in..wait until after your trip...
Chances are it is just a problem with the battery.

    Good luck!

My camera started giving me this error too, after owning it for a year. I have shot no more than about 1000 images and on average charged the battery once a week. To get around the error, I start the camera in image review mode and then turn the camera on by pressing the exposure button. The first few times it gives me the 'change the battery pack' error, but after doing this a few time the camera works as normal. It's almost as if the battery has to 'warm up' before working correctly. The battery still has charge. Any suggestions are welcome...I hope its not the camera, but just the battery - even though age and usage would not justify this short lifespan. Li-ion batteries typically last longer than this.
