Having enjoyed my S95 since last January, I've spent that last couple of months thinking about adding a DSLR to my camera collection - but after lot's of visits to photographic shops, review magazines and google blog searches I've satisfied my desire for a long lens optical zoom by buying a PowerShot SX40 HS.

It's like a big brother to the S95, with a huge lens, EVF and moveable display. So far I've only had it for less than 24 hours, but starting to enjoy it. It covers the one thing missing from the S95 - a 32X optical zoom, but lacks RAW output and the control ring round the lens.

And addresses the requirement for capturing pictures of things like parakeets in the tree at the bottom of my garden. While not creating a huge "lens collection habit" that I'm sure would start if I jumped on the EOS wagon.

What choices have other S95 or S100 owners made?

See below for same bird and tree - first using digital zoom from S95, then with just the optical on the SX40. (both at their maximum)

And here's an example of a night shot and same subject during the day, using nearly the full zoom.

If we get new cameras can we remain members of S95site? ;-) This is a great community and doesn't just talk about the technology! I like the pictures too....

How about an "Other Cameras" thread? Comments and pictures would be very interesting.

Offcourse we are interested in other work from our users, so as per your request:

    http://s95site.com/forum/discussion/366/shots-taken-with-a-non-s95-camera

Please refrain from posting images shot with another camera in other threads.
We'd like to keep the site a showcase of the S95's capabilities without users having to examine every post on whether or not it's shot with the s95.
